Suloglu and Sozopol - Informed, Trained, Equipped

The overall objective of the project is improving the capacity to timely prevent and mitigate prevention and mitigation of the consequences of natural and man-made hazards and disasters and raising the awareness and willingness for cooperation of public servants of the local population and the representatives of local business to react in cases of emergency in the Municipality of Suloglu and Municipality of Sozopol.
Specialized vehicles and equipment for rescue in fires and floods will be supplied for the local administration. An old building will be renovated and a Disaster Management Center will be established. The Fire Station building in Sozopol will be reconstructed and extended expanded as well. For the purpose of the project activities educational materials will be jointly elaborated. A training for the rescue teams from Sozopol and Suloglu will be organized for the use of the equipment in cases of emergency.
Through the implementation of the project, the partners will join their forces efforts to prevent and mitigate the consequences of natural and man-made hazards and disasters in the region of the municipalities of Suloglu and Sozopol, as well as a capacity for disaster resilience will be built through the exchange of experience and joint training targeted at public administrations, young people, volunteers and other groups of the population.

Project status: Finished

As a result, from the activities under the project has been made a repair to a building in Suloglu and has been created a Disaster Management centre. A reconstruction to the building of the Fire station in Sozopol has been made, and maintenance of the built facilities. Necessary specialized equipment and vehicle for rescue and has been supplied and a training has been conducted for the teams responsible for defence, mainly the voluntary formations in both municipalities. Exchange of experience between the partners and other institutions responsible for protection of the population in both partnering countries was realized, which was an effective approach to achieve the main objective, as well.  Ideas for public education on ways of proper behaviour and actions in case of disasters were discussed by the participants in the project, which included informational campaigns, tailored specially for different groups of the society which to be regularly realized. On the grounds of this have been developed educational materials for the local population – chronology of the actions in case of emergency, informational, promotional and educational materials.
